After all that has happened, what still hangs in the air?
Air:Time is a performance art work by Parker RopeBoi that presents dynamic aerial movement to address issues of history, the present moment, and queer bodies in space. In this performance, the textile architecture of ephemeral tensile structures elevates, as rope and body mutually manipulate and reconfigure one another in a fluid, mobile sculpture. This performance engages questions of social bonds, boundedness, and boundaries, and the potentials for their transgression or transcendence. In these times of precarity, Air:Time considers the suspended body, in its vulnerability and its potential energy, its uprootedness and uplift, its contingency and entanglement.
Parker RopeBoi: (they/them) is a Brooklyn-based performance artist and member of the WOW Cafe Theater collective. Parker has been queering ties and tying queers since 2008 and has presented rope workshops and daredevil self-suspension performances across North America and Europe. Parker uses rope as a versatile medium for enabling and disabling corporeal possibilities, presenting and overcoming impasses, and engaging lines of flight.
Presented by WOW Cafe Theater, the oldest collectively-run performance space for women and trans artists in the known universe.
