Experimental Bitch Presents Lexi Todd’s first solo EP, Maria Immured.
EP Release Party & Music Video Screening
An intimate gathering centering the voices of survivors of domestic violence.
Lexi Todd releases the music and videos from her first solo EP: Maria, Immured.
Opening with a poetry performance by Building Bold.
Album Art by Carlo De Dios
A night dedicated to centering the voices of survivors of domestic abuse. Lexi Todd releases her first solo EP, Maria, Immured. This 3-song EP chronicles Lexi’s experience of a close friend’s abusive relationship.
The night will begin with spoken word by the empowering women of Building Bold. After a performance by Lexi, the audience will get a first look at the music videos to be released with the EP this fall. Guests can buy into the raffle for a chance to win original Lexi Todd merchandise! Fifty percent of door sales from this event will be donated to an anti-domestic violence fund to be announced.
Lexi Todd is a Brooklyn-based singer, songwriter, and soul-searcher. Lexi fuses her contemporary influences—ranging from Hiatus Kaiyote, Emily King, Lake Street Dive, and Phoebe Bridgers—with her go-to icons from childhood, which include Amy Winehouse, Joss Stone, Fleetwood Mac, and all of Motown. The result is jazz-pop, with soulful vocal delivery and a hint of rock-n-roll. A dedicated yogi, self-help enthusiast, and women’s rights advocate, she is always trying to better herself, as well as the people and environment around her. She often writes about the people close to her in her life, both from their point of view and her own, to bring the healing power of music to those around her.
Lexi’s first solo EP, Maria, Immured, chronicles a close friend’s abusive relationship from her own perspective, and will be released in October 2018 for National Domestic Violence Awareness Month. The EP begins with Lexi’s friend rationalizing her abusers actions, follows the friend as she realizes how painful that abuse is, and ultimately ends with the friend finally gaining the courage to leave her abuser. Lexi’s goal is to artistically and thoughtfully spread awareness through the music and video content of this EP, while also inspiring survivors to find their own voice.

Lucky Bird Media, recognizing that journalism and the music industry are both in the midst of rapid restructuring, aims to personally assist artists in navigating this ever-evolving world. Lucky Bird also recognizes that art is instrumental in changing perceptions and shaping our culture, though many artists with important contributions are often not heard. The diverse experience of its partners will be used to amplify the voices, vision, and passion of musicians who might otherwise be overlooked. Lucky Bird Media is, mainly, a music publicity company, says co-founder Daniel Zephyr Cooper. But more than that, it’s a collection of people who love, care about, and cherish music and culture and the important impact it has on all of our lives www.LuckyBirdMedia.com
WOW (Women One World Cafe Theater) started as an international women’s theatre festival in October of 1980. Over the course of eleven days, 36 shows from 8 countries were performed for hungry New York lesbians. Within 18 months the group had a permanent space at 330 e. 11th street, where they began the monster that is WOW today: a year-round, an open, collectively run festival of women’s and transgender peoples’ performances. In 1984 (or thereabouts), WOW moved to the 1400 ft loft space that we inhabit today at 59-61 east 4th street. WOW continues to survive in a non-hierarchical structure today, by ticket sales, rentals and member’s sweat equity. If you are female-identifying, non-binary, and/or transgender and would like to learn more about WOW, attend our weekly meetings in the space: Tuesdays 6:30 pm
I almost wish that you could see
how happy she can be
now that she is free
and you’re not around
to hold her down
