Join the weekly “Sunday Anti-Racist Book Club” as we explore Ralph Ellison’s classic Invisible Man. Our first meeting will be August 27th, 7-8:30pm on Zoom and we’ll discuss the introduction, prologue and, if possible, chapter one.
The group will then choose how much to read for each subsequent week. The discussion is wide ranging, touching on themes within the text, connections to current issues and attendees personal reflections.
About the book: First published in 1952, Invisible Man “addresses many of the social and intellectual issues faced by African Americans in the early 20th century, including black nationalism, the relationship between black identity and Marxism, and the reformist racial policies of Booker T. Washington, as well as issues of individuality and personal identity.”
